Watch Out for These AT&T Scams!

Received a AT&T message with link inside? Hold on! Don’t click on anything yet. These text messages are often AT&T scams!

Recently, many people said they’ve received AT&T text messages containing unknown links. These links are phishing links that take you to a fake website where all the credentials you submit will end up in scammers’ hands, like your social security number, banking details, or credit card numbers.

They can then utilize the sensitive personal data to exploit you by hacking into your accounts, stealing your money and identity, or conducting further phishing attacks. Don’t fall for it!

Here are 2 types of fake AT&T scams to watch out for:

1. Overcharged payment

Scammers try to convince you that your account has been overcharged and that you can claim “compensation” or “reimbursement” via the phishing link:

2. Package delivery

In some cases, scammers falsely claim that a package of yours is “out for delivery” and prompt you to view the order through the phishing link:

Your package of 2 items is out for delivery. View your order with vouchers here <URL>

The phishing link leads to a fake AT&T online survey page. There you will be asked to fill out an online questionnaire for guaranteed rewards like an iPhone 12 or vouchers:

After you finish the survey, you will have to enter personal information before your reward can be delivered, including your address, phone number, and even banking details. And you already know what’s happening here – there is NO reward at all, but the scammers are more than happy to record all your credentials!
